Funny little duck……………………..

This funny litttle plush toy duck on wooden wheels is just great ! Made by Trousselier, this has to be one of my favourite plush toys at French Blossom.
I think its the combination of big head and eyes with a tiny body that makes this little character so appealing.

You can find this little plush toy duck at French Blossom

Cornish Pasties………………….

Before you ask, no we didnt make these wonderful Cornish pasties, but we did eat them! Bought from a little bakery when we were back in the UK last week they were just delicious. In fact they are making me hungry again looking at them!

I always thought, (due to so many people telling me i think), that the big crust on these traditional pasties originated from the time when miners would eat them and their hands being covered in dirt, they could hold onto the crust while eating the pasty and then discard the crust. A nice story! . I learn’t recently this probably wasn’t true as these delicious things were gobbled up from one end to the other (including the crust), just how I ate mine !

Find it hard to get your children to read?…………………….

What do you think of this fun and playful library for children designed by Beijing based, Japanese architecture company Sako Architects? The library is bright and certain to inspire children’s imagination. Design a library like this and you might find a lot more children want to read books! I wish I had a library like this when I was young. Sako Architects have created a magical world, a place where children can escape and explore, a place where children can relax and read in peace.

Lovely Golden Yellow Daffodils………………………..

I just love it in Spring when all the daffodils emerge and add splashes of bright yellow colour all over the countryside. I cant say they are the nicest smelling flowers but they just look so pretty in great swathes and in different shades of yellow, golden and cream.

We took some photos over the weekend of these daffodils and Narcissi and I just had to post them now! Its funny, for some reason they brought back memories from my school days when I had to learn the poem ‘Daffodils’ by William Wordsworth as homework.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed–and gazed–but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

William Wordsworth

First day of Spring…………….

Today is officially the first day of Spring and already many trees are covered in blossom throughout France. – So to mark the first day of spring, what better image to show for us at ‘French Blossom’ than a beautiful photo of blossom in the French Capital.

Learn the Alphabet video…………………

I just love this fun and creative video to help learn the Alphabet! Each letter of the alphabet is represented with an animation and a word that starts with that letter. The lovely French song ‘Tel qu’il est’ by Fréhel, plays as the music to this video.

Childrens cloud room light

I am sure you are aware of our love for anything with clouds in the design at French Blossom. We have beautiful cloud cushions, childrens cloud room mobiles and finally, after much interest we have added these delightful cloud lights to our French Blossom boutique.

With a soft white light bulb inside these clouds, they make the perfect lighting for kids rooms or babies nurseries! The poetic and dreamy shape of the clouds make them a lovely feature in any room even when it is not dark. We decided to have both the ceiling suspended cloud light plus the plug in lamps. They are designed by French creative agency PA Design.

The plug in cloud lamp can easily be moved from room to room and set up on a table, on a shelf or just left on the floor. Where ever you choose to position the light, it is certain to become a talking point!

Discover the cloud lighting here at French Blossom Kids lighting!

Please tell us what you think of these cloud lights!!

Rose minuscule childrens handmade room mobiles

These handmade childrens mobiles from French designer rose minuscule are so poetic and original. Each mobile takes hours of careful work to create and not one mobile is exactly the same. The childrens mobiles are created in rose minuscule’s atelier just outside Paris.
I love the vintage fabrics, the soft colours and the delicate feel with each mobile. They are a wonderful gift idea to complete a new nursery room or to hang in your childrens bedroom.

The very top mobile is called ‘Louvre’ and is known as the shy wolf. This lovely mobile is exclusive to us and can only be found on the French Blossom website! – We have one hanging in our office. The latest addition to our shop is ‘Montmartre’ – (the wolf playing the Accordion) and one of my favourites below, called ‘The Timid one with the Hat’

To discover these childrens mobiles and several others from rose minuscule visit the French Blossom shop.

The Timid one with the Hat – This mobile is so sweet. Wearing black trousers and a big black hat, the wolf is cuddling his favourite bird in his arms.
